Issue:

Is it possible to connect an Excle table to an AutoCAD drawing, which is saved on BIM 360?

Solution:

Yes, this can be done. Note, that the
Autodesk
Desktop Connector has to be installed first.

Follow these steps:

  1. Save the drawing and the Excel sheet in BIM 360 in the same folder.
  2. Open the AutoCAD drawing and execute _DATALINK
  3. Create a new data link, browsing for the Excel sheet by browsing through BIM 360 folders, which are available because of the Desktop Connector.
  4. Create a new table and selecting the data from the data link.
  5. Insert the table.

This table is connected with Excel-sheet. If the Excel sheet will be updated, a bubble will pop up in AutoCAD to update the Excel sheet in the drawing.
