3DExperience World 2021, day 2: summary

The plenary session of the day was rich in lessons on how to transform a product into experiences. General conferences, like the more in-depth ones that followed, provided many examples of the portfolio’s capacity. 3dEXPERIENCE Works to connect people, applications and data in real time, across all dimensions of a business. All with one goal: to increase productivity, facilitate collaboration and accelerate innovation.

The members of the R&D team thus presented very interesting customer cases and testimonials on this subject, from companies of all sizes that harness the power of tools. 3dEXPERIENCE Works to turn their dreams into reality. One of them, the start-up Skinny Guy Campers, uses in particular 3dSOLIDWORKS EXPERIENCE to meet its current needs and help it scale up as its business grows.

Another company, Square Robot, then told us how they had succeeded in strengthening their competitiveness by pushing the boundaries of design, engineering and collaboration with tools. 3dEXPERIENCE Works. Just like Seed Terminator, which has succeeded in adapting its products to various combine harvesters and categories of weeds, in order to allow mass customization of its equipment.

Among the other speakers of the day: Frank Stephenson, a renowned designer who has notably led the design teams of major car manufacturers such as McLaren, Ferrari, Maserati, Fiat and MINI. And besides, his intervention mainly focused on speed issues! In particular that of development cycles, which can be reduced by using new and evolving design tools, and by maintaining the human link at the heart of the design process.

“Product Excellence through Simulation” thus underlined the importance of evaluating the performance of your product in the best way and as early as possible, using a simulation process. The demonstrations showcased the powerful and connected SIMULIA solutions that you can combine with SOLIDWORKS.

In a session titled “Hassle-Free Data Management”, three different clients showed us how they harness the power of the cloud to store their data without the traditional hassle of local management. They also detailed why effective data management is critical to successful product development.

In the “Future of Design and Manufacturing” session, the Titans of CNC joined the Product Introduction team to share the experience of a company that has successfully completed its project in an extremely demanding timeframe, thanks to a collaboration solid and secure built on SOLIDWOPRKS and the powerful platform 3dEXPERIENCE.

Another conference that was eagerly awaited: the one hosted by Jason Polh, renowned industrial designer who became known in particular on the TV show American Chopper. Attendees were treated to a preview of the latest amazing designs Jason is currently working on.

Finally, the “Passport for Startup Ecosystems” session – covering North America, Europe, Asia and the South Pacific – addressed the challenges and opportunities encountered by the founders of start-ups launching new products.
