Luis Fernando Corado Granadillo of his real name, aka Guaro3D for makers familiar with his designs, is a 29-year-old Venezuelan who is a consulting engineer. He specializes in 3D modeling and 3D printing of all kinds of machinery models. His objects are very precise and detailed, they constitute almost replicas of vehicles, on a miniature scale: planes, Formula 1, tractors, buggies… in short, everything that rolls and flies, Luis is capable of designing it. His work is also reminiscent of the work of the excellent Maurizio Casella.
His training is more related to industrial mechanics but with his wife Graciela, Luis opened an architectural design studio with which he responds to requests related to 3D printing. This allows him to expand his circle of customers and open up to a global clientele.
In addition to architecture therefore, Guaro3D is passionate about transport vehicles. He noticed that in his country there were not many models of reproduction on the scale of machines. When he got his first FDM 3D printer he first tested some model making files that he found on the web, but he was not convinced by the quality of the results. He therefore began to develop his own kit models, 100% optimized for professional 3D printing, very often from simple photos or plans found on the web.
For modeling in 3D, Luis’s favorite software by far is the Autodesk Fusion 360 program. A program that allows him to very quickly develop models and ensure that they are watertight, which allows him to avoid quite a bit of frustration at the time of printing. He is also a fan of the SketchUp Make software.
3D printer level, it has a HIC Prusa i3 with an acrylic structure and an MK8 metal extruder with a 0.3mm nozzle. It usually prints with ABS and 0.15 layer thickness with 30mm / s print speed. These parameters cause slowness in 3D prints but the quality is there. He also ordered a customized SLA 3D printer, which will open up the possibilities for him.
Finally, regarding his favorite 3D model, he leans for the Gee Bee R2 Golden Age plane which according to him is a very beautiful plane. He is very happy with the amount of detail he has been able to trace through his work.
