Secure data transfer thanks to SSL certificate

An SSL certificate means more security in terms of confidentiality of your 3D files and sensitive data

Many of our customers, mainly from the industrial sector, attach great importance to the strictest secrecy of their 3D files and models. This is also understandable, given that in global competition, millions may depend on preventing the premature leakage of information.

As is well known, data transmission via the Internet always involves certain risks with regard to confidentiality. In addition, it is ultimately also about other fundamental points for online trading in general. On the one hand, customers must be able to trust that the account data transmitted during online payments will not fall into the wrong hands. Companies (like our 3D printing service) also need to ensure that their customers can confirm the authenticity of their website to protect them from fraudsters.

SSL certificate as patent solution for online business

For the reasons listed above, we now offer our customers a solution that is almost indispensable for the online trading industry: certified SSL encryption, or to put it another way: the SSL certificate.

If a web browser establishes a connection to the operator’s site that is secured in this way, the SSL certificate enables a secure connection. Technically, the process used here is roughly comparable to sealing a letter before it is sent.

Each SSL certificate contains identifying information that is held by a third party. If an SSL certificate is requested by the customer, this third party verifies the respective company data and, on the basis of precisely that data, issues a certificate intended only for this customer. This process is called authentication.

This is how the SSL certification process works in detail:

Whenever a browser tries to connect to a website secured with SSL, that browser requests the identity of the web server.

  • The server will now send a copy of its SSL certificate to that browser.
  • In the next step, the browser checks the credibility of this SSL certificate. If this is the case, it sends a message to the server.
  • This then sends back a digitally signed confirmation to initiate an SSL-encrypted session.
  • Only after these steps have been taken will the browser and server exchange encrypted data.
  • You can find out more about payment options and delivery times, and of course about our wide range of 3D printing services, on our website.
