Our comprehensive range of refinements gives your 3D models perfect design and functionality

Thanks to the high technical level of our 3D printing systems, we at 3D Activation guarantee you 3D models whose quality leaves nothing to be desired, even in the untreated state.

Since, despite our already high standards, the design and functionality of your print objects can still be further optimized, we would like to give you an overview of our comprehensive range of finishes today.

Overall we offer you 11 different finishing methods, which of course are not applicable to all of our 3D materials. For example, polishing can only be considered for silver 3D prints, while PA models can be finished in 8 different ways.

1.) Infiltrate

During infiltration, the surface is closed, making the 3D printed model more stable on the one hand and better protected against contamination on the other. Specifically, this means that the surface of the object by infiltrating UV and media resistant is made.

Infiltrate is suitable for 3D prints from: plaster of paris/CJP print, PA/SLS print, ABS/FDM print, ceramic print, PMMA plastic and quartz sand/FDB print each.

2.) coloring

Dyeing gives your 3D printed models all the benefits of infiltration (namely stability + UV and media resistance) on the one hand, while being visually appealing with this process on the other color scheme There are no limits to the original 3D print (similar to painting).

Dyeing is suitable for 3D printed models from: PA/SLS print, ABS/FDM print and PMMA plastic/FDB print.

3.) vibratory grinding/trowalizing

Vibratory grinding or tumbling is a process that is used in particular round edges leave. At the same time, however, this refinement method offers you options for smoothing, polishing, cleaning, matting, grinding, degreasing, de-oiling, descaling, deburring or making your 3D models shiny.

PA/SLS pressure and ABS/FDM pressure models are suitable for vibratory grinding or barrel finishing.

4.) Varnishing

Painting will give your 3D models the look you want surface quality. At the same time, the objects are also protected from surface contamination. 3D Activation offers you lacquer finishes in high gloss, matt, dead matt, satin and soft touch, even in all RAL (=DIN-certified) colours.

Refinements in 3D printingFinishing by painting comes into question for 3D prints: PA/SLS print, ABS/FDM print, epoxy/stereolithography and resin/polyjet print.

5.) Electroplating

Electroplating gives your 3D objects metallic propertiesie we make them conductive for electricity, give them greater stability and, last but not least, in this way we give plastic models a visually appealing metallic design.

Electroplating is suitable for 3D models made from: PA/SLS printing, Epoxy/Stereolithography and Resin/Polyjet printing.

6.) Metal finishing

In contrast to electroplating, with this type of finishing, the surface of the 3D-printed plastic object is directly coated with a metal layer overdrawn. The effects created in this way are similar to those of electroplating, but an even higher quality finish is created. The different coatings are durable and permanently resilient, making them ideal for outdoor use.

The following metal finishes are possible with us: aluminium, bronze, iron, chrome, copper, brass; Applicable for PA/SLS 3D printing models.

7.) Putty/filler

The spatula or filler process provides your model with a mirror-smooth surface. To do this, we cover your model with a filler after 3D printing and grind it mirror-smooth.

Putty or fillers can be used for 3D models from PA/SLS printing, ABS/FDM printing, epoxy/stereolithography and resin/polyjet printing.

8.) Chrome vaporization

Another method for high gloss polish We offer you 3D-printed models in the form of chrome vaporization. This finishing process gives you easy-care models with a unique high-gloss finish.

Applicable to PA/SLS 3D printing models.

9.) Loops

Grinding will also smooth the surface of your metal 3D model. In addition, in this way the dimensional accuracy of a workpiece improved.

Grinding is suitable for all metal 3D prints, except for silver.

10.) Glazing

Glazing gives ceramic 3D prints a shiny surface. At the same time, the ceramic models are sealed against liquids and gases.

11.) Polishing

The unique shine 3D models made of silver are accentuated even better by polishing.
